2009 CenterPointe Scholarship Recipients "Choir brings out a different side of people that others may not see at school or elsewhere. Personally, I feel that I can be myself at choir, knowing that I am in a safe environment where everyone loves to sing just as much as I do. This kind of atmosphere lifts off everyone's daily masks, and leads them to a place where music and friendship magically combine. Here is a place where one can experiment with their abilities, find out their strengths and weaknesses, and explore the world of music, all while tightening the bonds of friendship." Hannah Matro received $500
"I understood that to be part of a group means that you have to let everyone shine equally. I learned to apply this to most other aspects of my life as well. In school, I learned that other kids have interesting and useful thoughts too, and my way of answering a question was not the only way. Being involved in the LCC/LYE has taught me humility. I have also credited a major part of my personal achievement to choir, as it has helped me grow and become the strong, confident person that I am today." Emma Smith received $500
"I
have become a bolder, more outgoing, and more understanding person through meeting the people I met in choir. When I see someone that I know from choir at different social events, it feels as though they are family to me. During choir rehearsals and concerts I try to set a good example for my peers to follow. I listen to directions, and try to always do what I'm told. When a friend needs help, either with their music or even buttoning up their madrigal dress, I always try to help." Stephanie Pentiuk received $1000
